This is my honest house renovation story and the reason I will be able to save money for a long time.  I struggled to find a house within my budget until I came across a “fixer upper” but I was excited because I could do it the way I wanted.

I did some work on my own, friends and family offered help but for the big projects I was forced to shell out some cash to contractors.  I gave most of the work to these two guys that were referred to me through a friend but it ended up being a horrible experience all together.

They seemed to have their own ideas on how I wanted something done, uh okay? I was suddenly paying for extra things not mentioned before but what are you going to do when your kitchen is ripped apart?  Oh, did I mention this took almost a year to finish.  Apparently they did not always want to work or decided to take on other jobs while putting my work aside and a return phone call was almost as rare.

Wall Mounted Wine RackI really hated being at their mercy but I had limited time because of my job and also a general lack of the necessary skills and knowledge.  I became exceedingly fed up while they were supposed to be finishing my basement bar area.  I decided to take control back and started to look for wine rack plans and designs online when I discovered there was hope.  I could have what I wanted and the only person I had to trust getting it done was me.

It will take some time which will vary for each project and it will cost some money.  The good news being it is cheaper than paying someone else and although it requires your time there is definitely a very REWARDING feeling both during and after you complete your own masterpiece!

A do it yourself wine rack is definitely an attainable goal using wine rack kits but I figured why stop there when I can have access to over 16,ooo detailed plans for almost any project I can imagine.  The possibilities are really endless as to what I can do and the overall money I can save.  This all happened because of a dreadful experience and a search on the internet for WINE RACK PLANS.

Wine Refrigeration

The proper storage for wine is critical and wine refrigerators are definitely something you will want to be using.  There are many different types of wines and therefore different ways they should be stored.  Wine refrigeration is a key factor in achieving both the optimal taste and correct storage for your wine.  An added benefit is that you will be creating your own custom wine room or area in a way just by combining your wine refrigerator and wine rack.

There are many wine refrigerators to choose from and with so many choices it will always come down to what your specific needs are.  Some concerns or options you may be considering are noise, eco-friendly, style, digital temperature, size, location, and dual zone temperature settings just to name a few.

How do you decide if a dual zone wine refrigerator is right for you?  Both red and white wines can be stored around 55 degrees if you are looking for a longer storage time.  If you are drinking your wine more frequently, you may like the ability to store your white wines at a cooler temperature than your reds.  Most wine refrigerators are targeted for white wine use and are ideally set between 41-50 degrees.  Some units will have a section for red wine service set between 57-65 degrees as they will warm up quickly after being taken out and put into a decanter or swirled around a few times in a glass.

Built in wine coolers and recessed wine coolers are good options but for those of you with a bigger collection you may be looking for a free standing wine cellar.  In which case temperature and humidity are important of course but also there durability and ability to block out harmful light while staying both quiet and vibration free.  You will probably want this unit to have a good look as it will likely be considerably bigger and the most important feature will be bottle capacity depending on the size of your collection.
